Testing Sponsorship Request Form
Those wishing to take the master, residential master, journeyman, residential electrician, irrigation system wiring or disconnect and reconnecting existing air conditioning and refrigeration systems exam, must submit a Testing Sponsorship Request Form, available on our website, or apply for sponsorship through their online license account at iowaelectrical.gov. Sponsorship approval may take up to 2 weeks. Upon verification of eligibility, the applicant will receive a letter with an authorization code that must be used to schedule their exam. Once the authorization code is received, you can contact PSI to register for your exam. You can log onto the PSI website at: www.psiexams.com or call 1-855-746-8173.
The Electrical Examining Board has approved PSI as the testing service. PSI can be contacted at www.psiexams.com or 1-855-746-8173.
To log in to your personal online license account, go to: iowaelectrical.gov and click the bottom orange tab that says “Electrical Licensing System” and if you have an account set up, enter your email address and password. If you have not set up your account click on the words “NEW USER”. Enter your name exactly as shown on your Iowa electrical license, if you currently or in the past, have had an Iowa license. When the system asks “Is this you?” answer “YES”, if this is your information.
To apply for sponsorship online, apply for the license by “Examination”, click “Complete Checklist” answering all questions asked and then submit your application.
