The Police Service Dog Unit has been responsible for numerous illegal drug seizures, successful tracks of criminals and missing persons, and apprehensions of violent criminals.

Iowa State Patrol Technical Collision Investigators are trained in evidence recognition and collection, field sketches, measuring, scale diagramming, vehicle, light bulb, & speedometer examinations .
Honor Guard
The Honor Guard represents the Iowa Department of Public Safety at funerals, memorial services, and ceremonial events, and honors other law enforcement agencies when requested.

Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit
The Commerical Motor Vehicle Unit (CMVU) enforces Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), vehicle size, weight, registration, and travel authority of commercial motor vehicles.
CRISIS NEGOTIATION TEAM
Negotiators provide support during crisis incidents to obtain peaceful, voluntary surrender of hostage takers, barricaded suspects, and suicidal persons in crisis.
