To help support improving the health, lives, and safety of Iowans, the Office of Drug Control Policy offers and partners with several federal programs. 

State Crisis Intervention Program

The State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP) is a federal grant resulting from the Safer Communities Act. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act seeks to ensure that extreme risk protection order laws β€” commonly referred to as β€œred flag laws” β€” and programs are implemented in accordance with the Constitution and provide for adequate due process protections.

John R. Justice Student Loan Repayment Program

ODCP administers the John R. Justice (JRJ) Program. The program provides loan repayment assistance for state and federal public defenders and state prosecutors. Participants must agree to remain employed as public defenders and prosecutors for at least three years. 

Pseudoephedrine Tracking

Iowa's electronic pseudoephedrine tracking system is called the National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLEx). Pharmacies began reporting all pseudoephedrine purchases electronically to NPLEx no later than September 1, 2010.

Drug Endangered Children Program

The Iowa Alliance for Drug Endangered Children is an advocacy community in Iowa. DEC is driven by the need to stand up for Iowa children endangered by their parents' or caregivers' illicit drug use.

Drug-free workplace education programs address substance abuse in the workplace. These programs assist employers in creating a healthier, safer environment for their employees.
