All DPS web team members should use these guidelines to get their new Basic pages started.

Design guidelines:

  • High-quality photos (preferably not graphics) must be used at the top of each Basic Page. Whenever possible, use photos elsewhere - like in promos - to capture attention and make pages more dynamic. It's recommended to place promos near the top of your page to better showcase any visuals. Unsplash (https://unsplash.com/ ) is a good copyright-free source of photos for the time being. The goal is to eventually have an archive of internal, organic photos to pull from to create a more localized/personal feel.
  • When creating new sections in your Body, you're encouraged to use text formatting to make the most important sentences or phrases stand out in your body (like italicizing or bolding). This can apply to organizational values, mottos, mission statements, or any other key info you want to use to capture users' attention.
  • The DPS footer with the contact and location information will be featured on every page across the site. If you need to add additional contact/location info specific to your organization, be sure to create contact/location entries separately first, and then search for those entries in the Editing pane. This allows you to use the same templates in multiple places and it automatically creates a more visual look with that information.
  • When it's suitable, take advantage of other types of microcontent to present information in different ways or lead users to other sources of information (using accordions, automatic lists, and link collections).
  • Note: When placing microcontent in the Basic page format, select "None" for alignment - the other options only apply to Landing pages.

Promo

Use Promos to create more visual sections on your page and draw attention to important information/external links.

Accordion Title

This is an example of an accordion, which should be used for long lists of content that authors would like to place in different parts of the site. They are typically bulleted items from a long list of content that is well-suited to "expanding" and "contracting" behavior.

You can also insert a relevant photo between body sections to visually break up a page:
