TITLE VI NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC
Iowa Department of Public Safety Title VI Notice to the public/beneficiaries/participants:
The Iowa Department of Public Safety gives public notice of its policy to uphold and assure full compliance with the nondiscrimination requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related nondiscrimination authorities. Title VI and nondiscrimination related authorities stipulate that no person in the United States of America shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, income level, or Limited English Proficiency, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

This notice shall be posted in all DPS public-accessed facilities and uploaded to the DSP website.
Any person who believes they have individually or as a member of any specific class of persons been subjected to discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, income level, or Limited English Proficiency has the right to file a formal complaint. Any such complaint must be in writing and submitted within 180 days following the date of the alleged occurrence to the Title VI Program Coordinator.
The site https://rules.iowa.gov/ allows Iowans to view administrative rules that are open for comment, rules that are receiving higher views than others, comment on rules online, find contact information for each specific rule, learn how much longer the comment period is open, and inquire about the administrative rule process.

Administrative Rules
Iowa Code §17A.7 (2) states the following: Beginning July 1, 2012, over each five-year period of time, an agency shall conduct an ongoing and comprehensive review of all of the agency’s rules. The goal of the review is the identification and elimination of all rules of the agency that are outdated, redundant, inconsistent, or incompatible with statute or its own rules or those of other agencies. An agency shall commence its review by developing a plan of review in consultation with major stakeholders and constituent groups. When the agency completes the five-year review of the agency’s own rules, the agency shall provide a summary of the results to the administrative rules coordinator and the administrative rules review committee.
Effective July 1, 2010, Iowa Code §229.22, as amended by SF 2352, requires notification of a specified law enforcement agency prior to discharge of a patient brought to a hospital or facility for emergency mental health treatment by a law enforcement agency for whom an arrest warrant has been issued or charges are pending. The new law provides that DPS must develop a form for law enforcement to use when requesting notification.
