DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is now able to identify the Fort Madison Police Officer involved in the shooting during the late evening hours of December 10, 2019. Officer Cory Brown, a six-year veteran of the police department responded to a 911 call at the Scott’s Miracle-Gro warehouse referencing an armed individual within the facility. Upon arrival, Officer Brown encountered Robert Allen Elfgen and fired his duty weapon, striking Elfgen. This is an ongoing investigation, and upon the DCI's conclusion will be forwarded to the Iowa State Attorney General’s office for review. Officer Brown remains on paid administrative leave.
