HIAWATHA, Iowa – On May 30, 2020, at approximately 11:40 PM, Hiawatha Police were dispatched to the Sunset Village Mobile Home Park for a disturbance.  Upon officers' arrival, four subjects were located suffering from gunshot wounds. Three of the subjects received treatment and were transported to local hospitals.  One of the subjects was pronounced deceased at the scene. That subject has been identified as Joshua Lathrop, 31, of Hiawatha.  

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Major Crime Unit was requested to respond to the scene and conduct an investigation. The investigation is ongoing and DCI is being assisted by the Hiawatha Police Department, Cedar Rapids Police Department, Linn County Sheriff's Office, Iowa State Patrol, and Area Ambulance.  

The investigation is ongoing.  Those with information related to the shooting are asked to contact the Hiawatha Police Department.
