WYOMING, Iowa - On September 21, 2020, at approximately 7:33 PM, the Jones County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from 9073 County Road E45 regarding a firearms complaint. Jones County deputies, Delaware County deputies and a Trooper with the Iowa State Patrol responded to the 911 call. Upon arrival, law enforcement encountered James Orval Bartram, 51, of Wyoming, Iowa. Bartram brandished a firearm, and the Trooper and a Delaware deputy fired their weapon(s) striking Bartram in the upper torso. Bartram was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where he remains under medical care. No law enforcement personnel were injured during the shooting.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was called to investigate the incident. The names of the Trooper and deputy will not be released pending their interview.
