The Iowa DCI Crime Laboratory has a robust quality assurance program that is demonstrated and monitored by participation in an accreditation program offered by ANAB (ANSI National Accreditation Board). The laboratory was first accredited under ASCLD/LAB’s Legacy program requirements on September 11th, 2000 and later transitioned to ASCLD/LAB’s International Testing program under ISO/IEC 17025:2005 granted on June 24th, 2011, and is currently accredited under ANAB’s ISO/IEC 17025:2017 program on November 30th, 2019 (and has been continuously accredited since that time).

Forensic laboratory accreditation involves internal audits and external assessments that evaluate management practices, personnel qualifications, technical procedures, proficiency testing and laboratory facilities. The laboratory is committed to maintaining a progressive quality assurance program involving continuous improvement to processes within the forensic environment.
